Before you buy a part
- Match the part number or VIN. Trims and build years differ, so give the seller your VIN or the number printed on the old part.
- Genuine, used genuine or aftermarket. Used genuine parts from a wrecker fit like new ones; aftermarket quality varies.
- Warranty. A non-genuine part, or one fitted by someone else, can affect warranty cover for related faults. Check with your dealer first if the car is under warranty.
- Some jobs need a qualified technician. High-voltage parts, airbags and ADAS parts such as windscreen cameras, radar and sensors need a qualified technician and often recalibration after fitting.

Where can I buy Tesla Model 3 or Model Y parts in Australia?
New parts come through Tesla: accessories from the Tesla Shop and repair parts through a service booking. Used genuine parts are sold by Australian wreckers such as those listed on our Tesla parts page, and on eBay Australia.
Where can I buy BYD parts in Australia?
For new genuine parts, contact a BYD service centre. Several Australian wreckers stock used BYD Atto 3 and other BYD parts, and some deliver Australia-wide.
Are used EV parts safe to buy?
Body, interior, lighting and wear parts from a reputable wrecker are generally fine if the part number matches. High-voltage, airbag and ADAS parts must be fitted by a qualified technician.
Will a non-genuine part void my warranty?
Not automatically, but a manufacturer can refuse to cover a fault caused by a non-genuine part or faulty fitting. If your car is under warranty, ask your dealer before you buy.
Do charging cables need approval in Australia?
Yes. Chargers, cables and adaptors sold for use in Australia should carry the RCM approval mark.
